Growth for the Desktop Engineering Team
Lockdown & tier restrictions have had one positive effect on Laird insofar as we’ve seen an increasing number of clients taking advantage of the various digital ways of providing automotive reports & other solutions. The most obvious is the desktop report; whilst working & effective since the early Nineties, it’s taken a while for the most traditional firms to adapt.
As a result of this, we’ve seen an increasing in firms wanting to take advantage of our technology, which in turn has allowed us to buck the trend and continue to grow our desktop engineer team.

When the first lockdown hit, our instructions fell dramatically, but as clients saw the benefits of digital methods & remote inspections, we’ve seen a gradual increase. I’m delighted that we’ve grow to the point of bringing in more staff to help. We’ve gone from a position of it being a challenge to find good employees, to having a wealth of people who have unfortunately been made redundant or even seen their previous firms go under. Sarah joins Laird as a trainee engineer boasting a wealth of experience fixing up her own vehicles and working with her friends and family on vehicles her interest in the motor and repair industry is obsessive. Sarah loves spending time on her own motorbike and on motorcycle track days!
Joining our trainee engineer programme Sarah is taking her first steps on her path to become an engineer in the future. We’re delighted to welcome her to the team and the Laird family.
Chris has extensive experience within the motor & repair industry from practising as an engineer & vehicle estimator. Chris also boasts being part of a world record for the largest full set drum ensemble!
Chris joining is part of our continuous growth in our desktop engineering team as we grow from strength to strength. We’re delighted to have Chris as part of the team and to the Laird family.
Sarah & Chris have joined the desktop engineer team who offer a range of off-the-shelf and bespoke solutions to the automotive, legal & insurance industries.
