“I started with Laird in March 2016 as an apprentice for First Response, dealing with most incoming emails and distributing them to the relevant departments.

As of December 2020, I’m a fully qualified Desktop Engineer dealing with all aspects of vehicle damage assessment, categorisation of total loss vehicles and post repair inspections, non-standard inspections etc.

Laird have been vital for my progression, believing I had what it took to progress from First Response to the in-house engineers, and then onwards to my full qualifications. Support was readily available throughout all of the steps to aid my progression.”

“I started in 2015 as a query member dealing with small engineering tasks such as supplementary reports and checked accounts. I soon progressed into doing more technical third party responses and building smaller estimates with the help and training from the team.

I’ve been privileged to learn from some great engineers over the years and am now in a position where I am able to pass this knowledge on as an important part of the engineering team.

Without the help and training from other engineers I would not be where I am. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to learn and build my knowledge from this platform.”

“I began my Laird journey in the query team doing an admin based roll. I would take calls, log emails and liaise with garages. Over time I would progress and learn how to deal with supplementary queries and make decisions on if extra parts were required for jobs.

I would undertake training with the engineers with the mindset of progressing into the desktop engineers team. With the training I received in I was able to make the step into the desktop team and have progressed a long way thanks to the help of the team and the training provided by Laird.

The best thing about the academy is there is a chance of working your way up and progress to be an engineer. The final step for me will be working towards becoming fully qualified, which I never thought would have been possible when I first joined.”
